Jesus doesn’t promise that we won’t go through hard things; he promises to be with us as we do.
This week's sermon from Acts 18 reminded us of the reality of fear in life—especially fear as we seek to share the gospel of Jesus with others. But we have the amazing promise that Christ will be with us in every fearful situation.

Above all else, humans desire to be happy. And we will worship anything we believe will give us happiness. Hence: the human mind is an idol factory.
What Paul showed his hearers in Athens in Acts 17 is that none of the idols we worship can give us the happiness our hearts truly long for—only Christ can do that. Happiness is not “out there,” but in him.
